Chris Jones looks awesome! Orlando Brown Jr. is terrible!
That’s what we are hearing from the reports coming out of training camp. But is it true? I don’t doubt that is what people are seeing, but does it mean anything? It should. It should mean something. Chris Jones blowing past Chiefs defenders should be impressive. Orlando Brown Jr. getting beat seemingly all the time should be concerning. But what should we believe?
Orlando Brown Jr. said that he’s not a practice player. He shows up when the lights are on. I’m not sure what that means about day games, but that’s for another day. While Brown’s comments are frustrating, he might not be wrong.
Spring Training stats in baseball are often misleading. Some guys just can’t focus or something in the spring. They turn things on when the season starts. Some take a month into the regular season before they really get going. Is football the same way? I don’t think so.
But let’s wait and see how the offensive and defensive lines look during exhibition games. Let’s at least base our thoughts on that. But even then, let’s continue to wait until the regular season. Because let’s face it. Things aren’t changing at this point. If Orlando Brown Jr. stinks, he’s going to stink. I don’t expect that to be the case. But then again, I don’t buy into being a “game player”.
