The Royals beat the hottest team in baseball Tuesday when they defeated the Rays 2-1 in Tampa Bay. Adalberto Mondesi was reinstated from the injured list and went 2-for-4 with two doubles in his first game of the season.
I have quite a bit in the game analysis of Tuesday’s game (linked below) and today’s podcast. Give them a read and a listen. If you haven’t listened to the podcasts yet, you can log into your account and go to the podcast page to get your unique link to import into your favorite podcast player.

MID-MAJOR SCHOOLS TO BOYCOTT GUARANTEE GAMES
Some mid-major schools are choosing not to play guarantee games against Power 5 schools to prevent the larger schools from getting a free, live evaluation of their players who the larger schools might want to recruit as transfers.
This is something that isn’t surprising. After all, the mid-major schools are losing players to the Power 5 schools with the new transfer rules. Mid-majors are turning into minor league teams for the big schools.
The relationship between these schools is starting to look like Major League Baseball. Mid-majors can still win, but it’s getting even harder. They have even less margin for error. Much like the Yankees can afford to have injuries more than the Royals because they can spend money to cover up those injuries or poor evaluations, mid-majors can recruit and develop players only to lose them to the blue bloods and other Power 5 schools. So Kansas, Kentucky, and others can make a mistake in evaluating a player out of high school and then replace him with a kid who surprises at the mid-major level. In essence, the top schools get multiple opportunities to recruit top players, whereas the mid-majors get one chance at best.
BIG 12 DISTRIBUTIONS
The Big 12 will distribute $34.5 million per school for the current fiscal year. They estimated $40 million before the covid.
