What a busy Saturday we had! The Royals played a doubleheader against the Toronto Blue Jays and earned a split to guarantee another split or winning series. The Royals have not lost a series yet in 2021.
And Sporting Kansas City kicked off its season on the road against the New York Red Bulls. With a lot of regulars unavailable, Sporting scored twice within a minute and won 2-1.
It was a good Saturday for the local teams. Maybe the Royals will win their series with another win on Sunday.

Kansas Starts External Interviews Next Week For Football Coach
New Kansas athletic director Travis Goff will reportedly begin reaching out to external candidates for the football head coaching position early next week. He talked with interim coach Emmett Jones recently to inform him of the process. Jones is still a candidate for the job, but I find it unlikely that he will get it.
Kansas needs a coach who can build a program. Jones is a favorite of the players, but ultimately it will be a coach who can help them win games who will earn their support.
It’s hard to say if the Jayhawks will lose many players if they choose a coach from outside of the program to lead them, but that should not be a factor in the decision.
It is rumored that Jeff Monken (Army), Lance Leipold (Buffalo), and Willie Fritz (Tulane) are the favorites to land the job, but there are certainly others we don’t know about. Goff gave no timeline for his decision, but it’s hard to see the search going more than two weeks. The coach could be in place by the May 1 spring football game.
