We are just one day away from the start of the NCAA tournament. We get to ease into it here since Kansas and Missouri don’t play until Saturday. So, if you haven’t asked for Friday and Monday off already, do so today.
Oakland Athletics 10, Kansas City Royals 5 (Box Score)
3:05pm – MLBST – Kansas City Royals at Chicago White Sox (1660AM)
Kansas Tournament Notes
David McCormack is expected to arrive in Indianapolis on Friday after quarantining away from the team because of the covid. However, Tristan Enaruna, McCormack’s roommate, who also missed the Big 12 tournament, tested positive for the covid earlier this week and will not be in Indianapolis for the first weekend. Enaruna could join the team next Wednesday if the team is still alive.
Bill Self doesn’t know how much David McCormack will be able to play on Saturday. Christian Braun is the backup five-man, with Marcus Garrett and Tyon Grant-Foster also playing it.
Jalen Wilson, the player who tested positive last Friday, is expected to join the team on Monday if Kansas wins its game. It’s unknown if Jalen Wilson will be able to play on Monday even if the team advances. Of course, it depends on how Wilson is feeling. It also depends on when Kansas plays on Monday. There are requirements for Wilson’s arrival. An early game time might not give Wilson the ability to get through all of the requirements in time.
Missouri Tournament Notes
Missouri received some helpful information about their first-round opponent Wednesday. Oklahoma’s second-leading scorer, De’Vion Harmon, tested positive for the covid and will miss the game against the Tigers.
Missouri Football Attendance
Missouri announced that they are planning on full-capacity crowds for football this fall.
Bally Sports Kansas City will carry 161 Royals games this year. The other game will be shown on FS1. Fox Sports Kansas City was renamed Bally Sports Kansas City. The Fox Sports channels were sold to Sinclair Broadcasting last year. Sinclair recently sold the rights to the channel names to Bally’s as the gambling company ties closer to sports, with many states legalizing sports gambling.
The Chiefs agreed with Kyle Long, who recently came out of retirement, on a one-year contract worth up to $5 million.
The Chiefs tendered WR Byron Pringle, OL Andrew Wylie, and CB Charvarius Ward, and they re-signed Ben Niemann.
