Dayton Moore told Jim Bowden that the team is open to the idea of Bobby Witt Jr. making the major league club out of spring training with the possibility of playing centerfield or second base.
The Royals optioned C Sebastian Rivero and RHP Tyler Zuber to Triple-A Omaha. The move leaves 40 players in major league camp.
The Chiefs also reached an agreement with RB Darrel Williams on a one-year, $2.13 million contract. It includes $930,000 in guaranteed money.
