It was a slow Friday in the world of sports and that’s a nice way to ease into the weekend. We learned about yet another Baylor game cancelled, or at least postponed, because of the virus. Danny Duffy saw his ERA jump to 5.01 after an awful start in a big Royals loss. But that’s over and today we have college football and a mid-day Sporting game.
Welcome to today’s Dr. Feelgood!
Brewers 9, Royals 5
2:30pm – MLS – FSKC – FC Dallas at Sporting Kansas City
6:10pm – MLB – FSKC – Kansas City Royals (Kris Bubic, 1-5, 4.50) at Milwaukee Brewers (Corbin Burnes, 3-0, 1.98)
Danny Duffy fell apart in the fourth inning in a start that was pushed back because he missed the team flight to Detroit earlier in the week. He ended up allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks in just 3 2/3 innings.
The Royals actually took a 4-0 lead. They put three runs on the board in the first and added another in the third. It was looking pretty good before Duffy Duffed the game.
Mike Matheny brought Jake Newberry into the game in relief of Duffy and he allowed a three-run home run in the fifth. All of sudden the Royals went from up 4-0 to down 9-4.
ROUND AND ROUND
– Baylor’s game against Houston scheduled for today was cancelled because of contact tracing related to COVID. One player who wouldn’t have been allowed to play due to contact tracing tested negative five times in 12 days.
