OFF THE TOP
Reactions from around Major League Baseball continues to pour in regarding the Houston Astros cheating scandal. People around the league are saying exactly what they think of the Astros.
Brian Cashman confirmed that the Yankees have been in touch with the league office for a few seasons about the Astros cheating. He said that the sign-stealing scandal no question had an effect on the outcomes of games. Cashman said that it is good for people to speak about cheating and then move on because that s all they can do at this point.
Washington Nationals GM Mike Rizzo said that he won’t be satisfied until the Astros use the word “cheated”.
Trevor Bauer said that Astros’ owner is either an idiot or a liar. He continued to say that you don’t become a billionaire owner of a team by being an idiot so he’s lying. He said that in a few days pitchers will be throwing to hitters with an L-screen in from to them because the players know what pitches are coming and it’s dangerous.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger said Friday that Jim Crane’s apology was weak. He said that Commissioner Rob Manfred was weak for giving the players immunity and not punishing them. He has also lost respect for every Astros player and dismissed their apologies. Bellinger also said that Jose Altuve cheated Aaron Judge out of an MVP award. He then questioned why Altuve hit a series-ending home run and then went to the clubhouse and changed shirts prior to celebrating on the field. This is a reference to the rumor that the Astros were wearing electronic buzzers under their jerseys to get the pitch information.
We are hearing players talk about other players in a way that I have never seen in my almost 50 years on earth. I am wondering when we will hear about the first lawsuit from a fan accusing Major League Baseball of fraud or whatever makes the most sense legally. I expect it to happen at some point.
And what about Aaron Judge? He probably has a bonus in his contract for winning an MVP award and he was cheated out of a close race with Jose Altuve when Altuve knew the pitches coming his way.
- The Chiefs reached an agreement with Missouri Western State University that extends Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph through at least 2022.
