The Super Bowl is just a day away. There was a huge rally at the Power & Light District last night. If you didn’t see any pictures or videos you should go look for them. It looked packed! Kansas City is at an all-time high for Chiefs excitement right now.
Here is your daily Dr. Feelgood…
All Chiefs players practiced fully on Friday. There are no injury designations for the game this Sunday.
The line for the Super Bowl remains at Chiefs -1 after opening at Chiefs -1 1/2. This is the closest line since Seattle vs New England was a pick ‘em in 2015. The favorite is 10-9 straight up since 2000.
The Chiefs and 49ers are almost exact opposites in how they gain yards in the postseason. The Chiefs gained 73% of their yards in the air and the 49ers gained 71% of their yards on the ground. During the regular season, the Chiefs gained 74% of their yards in the air and the 49ers gained 62% of their yards in the air. This goes along with what I mentioned in the podcast Thursday night. The 49ers have greatly shifted their approach to the run in the postseason.
In the postseason, the 49ers have run the ball on 77% of their plays. In the regular season, they ran the ball on just 51% of their plays. The Chiefs threw the ball on 59% of their plays in the postseason. They threw it on 61% of their plays in the regular season. So, in the playoffs, the Chiefs are doing what they did during the regular season. The 49ers are playing a new type of game in which they seem to not want Jimmy Garoppolo to lose the game. He’s a game manager and it has been very successful for them.
