Patrick Mahomes had an X-ray on his throwing hand which showed no break. He has a bad bruise but no break. Andy Reid said that the offense changed some because of Mahomes’ injury. They switched to more shallow crossing routes and more running plays instead of deeper passes. Mahomes is expected to play Sunday against Denver.
The Chiefs called for a fake on the play where New England blocked the Chiefs punt. Andy Reid said that there was a breakdown with blocking on the play.
The Oakland Athletics are interested in Royals relief pitcher Tim Hill. The Royals are reportedly interested in some of the A’s young middle infielders. Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Sheldon Neuse might be the Royals target in a trade of Hill to Oakland.
The Missouri Board of Curators is set to meet at 8 am on Tuesday to approve the contract for new football coach Eli Drinkwitz. Drinkwitz will make $4 million per year for six years at Missouri. Drinkwitz will be introduced at a 10:45 am press conference on Tuesday.
The New England Patriots admitted that they had a film crew at the Cincinnati Bengals game this past weekend filming a segment for a show they produce. The film crew was supposedly filming the work Patriots advanced scouts were performing at the game in advance of their game this weekend against the Bengals. The film crew recorded the Bengals sideline during their work which is against NFL rules.
Major League Baseball teams are being told to plan on the three-batter minimum for pitchers to be in place for the 2020 season. There was talk of reducing it to two batters but that was voted down. Relief pitchers will be required to pitch to three batters or until the inning is finished.
The Washington Nationals agreed to a 7-year, $245 million contract with RHP Stephen Strasburg.
Josh Donaldson appears to be looking at a four-year deal with three NL East teams having interest: Atlanta, Washington, and Philadelphia.
