The Chiefs got the best news they could have expected on Friday from Patrick Mahomes’ MRI. The MRI reportedly revealed a dislocated kneecap but no other damage. Mahomes will reportedly miss at least three weeks. We are not sure if he will return for the game against the Chargers in Mexico the week before their bye or if he will wait until after the bye to return.
The New York Yankees replaced CC Sabathia with Ben Heller on their ALCS roster. Sabathia injured his left shoulder pitching on Friday night in Game 4. The move makes Sabathia ineligible for the World Series if the Yankees pull off a shocker and win three games in a row against the Houston Astros. This means that CC Sabathia’s career is over.
The New York Yankees beat the Houston Astros Saturday night 4-1 to force a Game 6 back in Houston on Saturday night. All of the runs were scored in the first inning. D.J. LeMahieu and Aaron Hicks homered off of Astros starter Justin Verlander. James Paxton allowed just one run on fours hits, four walks and nine strikeouts in six innings for the win. Both managers said after the game that they will have bullpen games on Saturday.
JJ Cooper of Baseball America reported that Major League Baseball is looking to take more control over minor league baseball with a new Professional Baseball Agreement currently being discussed between MLB and MiLB (Minor League baseball). MLB’s proposal would reduce the number of teams by over 25%, change team affiliations to reduce travel, improve working conditions for the players and improve pay for minor leaguers among other things. The changes would also require some minor league franchises to move from Triple-A down to Single-A and vice versa, presumably to keep leagues in a tighter geographic area to reduce travel.
