Royals defeat Oakland 6-4
The Kansas City Royals were led by Hunter Dozier and Ryan O’Hearn home runs on the way to a 6-4 win over the Oakland Athletics.
Oakland jumped on top with two runs in the top of the first inning.
Brett Phillips made a terrific catch in the second inning.
Hunter Dozier hit a two-run home run to tie the game 2-2 in the bottom of the third.
The Athletics added two more in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.
Jorge Soler doubled home Whit Merrifield in the fifth to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Ryan O’Hearn homered to tie the game at 4-4.
Hunter Dozier put the Royals up 5-4 in the seventh.
Alex Gordon hit into a double play that scored the final run in the Royals 6-4 victory.
The Royals will try for a series split in the final game Thursday afternoon at 12:15pm. Glenn Sparkman battles Chris Bassitt.
The Royals have decided to shut down Brad Keller for the rest of the season. Jorge Lopez will start Saturday. Danny Duffy will be pushed back to Sunday.
