Royals lose to Athletics 2-1
Pitching was completely different for the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night, but the offense still couldn’t help pull out a victory and the Royals lost to the Oakland Athletics 2-1.
The A’s jumped on top with a run in each of the first two innings. Alex Gordon doubled home Hunter Dozier for the Royals’ first and only run.
Mike Montgomery pitched a good game. He allowed just two runs, one earned, on five hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings. Montgomery had six strikeouts. Kevin McCarthy, Scott Barlow and Ian Kennedy combined for 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Game three of the series is Wednesday night. Jakob Junis goes up against Tanner Roark.
Royals owner David Glass is discussing selling the club to a group led by John Sherman. Sherman is from Kansas City. Sherman is a minority owner of the Cleveland Indians. The Royals declined to discuss the potential sale.
The 2020 football game between Missouri and Arkansas is being moved from Columbia, MO to Arrowhead Stadium. It’s part of a two game agreement between Missouri and Arrowhead Stadium. Another game will be moved from Columbia to Arrowhead by 2025.
