Royals fall to Orioles 4-1
The Royals jumped on top with a run in the second inning but that’s all they would get in a 4-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles tied the game up with a run in the seventh. Three more in the eighth put the game away.
Brad Keller started on the mound for the Royals. He did not allow a run on just three hits and two walks in six innings. The bullpen was not as good. Richard Lovelady pitched just one inning and allowed a run on three hits. Jacob Barnes gave up three runs on a hit and two walks.
Ned Yost moved Jorge Soler up to the second spot in the lineup right in front of Hunter Dozier to try to get Soler better pitches. Soler seemed anxious to hit and struck out twice being a little too aggressive. Soler did go 1-for-3 on the night.
Hunter Dozier was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on the night. It will be interesting to watch how Dozer hits now that Soler is hitting in front of him and not behind him.
Alex Gordon went 2-for-4 with the only run of the game for the Royals. He scored on a sacrifice fly.
On defense, Bubba Starling made a terrific diving catch.
The final game of the series is on Wednesday at 6:05pm. Mike Montgomery pitches for the Riyals. Aaron Brooks pitches for the Orioles.
The Kansas City Chiefs signed free agent G Jeff Allen and WR De’Anthony Thomas.
Tyreek Hill was absent from practice Tuesday for personal reasons. He is expected to be back on Wednesday.
United States women’s soccer player Carli Lloyd stopped by the Philadelphia Eagles practice and kicked field goals.
The Dallas Cowboys signed LB Jaylon Smith to a five-year, $65 million contract with $35.5 million guaranteed.
