Blue Jays defeat Royals 7-3
After four quality starts in July, Brad Keller took a step back in this game. He allowed four runs on eight hits in seven innings. It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t the dominating pitcher he was in most of the month of July. The last run was on a home run by Cavan Biggio in the eighth which put the Blue Jays up 4-3.
The offense was only able to put up six hits in the game. Cheslor Cuthbert and Cam Gallagher had two each. The other two came from Whit Merrifield and Jorge Soler.
Josh Staumont struggled in relief for the first time since being called up from Omaha. He allowed two runs on a hit and walk in just .1 inning.
Tim Hill also struggled. He allowed a run on two hits and a walk in .1 inning.
Game two of the series is Tuesday night. Mike Montgomery is on the mound for the Royals.
