ESPN+ to show behind-the-scenes series on Kansas football
ESPN+ is going to show an 18-part behind-the-scenes series on Kansas football on the new Big 12 Now channel. The series is following the process of Les Miles building the Kansas football program. Filming began prior to Miles being hired as head coach. The series will begin in August and include four preseason episodes followed by weekly episodes during the season.
Big 12 Media Day
Kansas State’s new head coach Chris Klieman spoke Tuesday at the second day of the Big 12 Media Days. Klieman said that New Mexico transfer Marcus Hayes will not be eligible to play this season. He is excited about freshman receiver Josh Youngblood. Klieman is also excited about Skylar Thompson running his offense at Kansas State. Klieman recruited Thompson when he was still at North Dakota State.
Royals control the game and win 11-0
The Royals jumped on top of the Chicago White Sox 2-0 in the bottom pop the first and they rolled to a 11-0 win behind a terrific pitching performance by Glenn Sparkman. Sparkman followed a terrific start on Monday by Jakob Junis with a complete game shutout allowing just five hits and one walk to go with eight strikeouts in his 116 pitch outing.
The offense continued to add runs throughout the game including four in the eighth inning with the help of a long home run to left by Hunter Dozier. Hunter Dozier and Whit Merrifield both went 3-for-5 on the night. Adalberto Mondesi, Alex Gordon and Cheslor Cuthbert had two hits each.
Adalberto Mondesi left the game early when he injured himself diving for a foul ball after a long run. He landed awkwardly on his chest with his left arm bent back. It appeared that he might have dislocated his left shoulder but all we heard after the game was that he injured his left shoulder and will have an MRI.
The win improves the Royals to 4-1 to start the second half of the season and guarantees the team at least a tie of this four game series. The third game of the series is Wednesday night at 7:15pm. Danny Duffy will battle Ivan Nova.
