The Boston Red Sox signed former Royals’ utility player Chris Owings to a minor league contract. Owings will reportedly spend time in extended spring training before reporting to Triple-A. The Royals will continue to pay most of Owings’ contract. The Red Sox will have to pay a prorated amount of the major league minimum salary. The Royals will pay the rest.
