On Wednesday it was released that the Chiefs were forced to move the Bayern Munich – AC Milan game scheduled for July 23 from Arrowhead Stadium to Children’s Mercy Park. That’s quite a change. Arrowhead seats over 76,000 while Children’s Mercy Park holds just over 18,000. The Chiefs said that the change was due to Arrowhead not being ready for the match because of all of the rain in Kansas City recently.
The Chiefs are in the middle of replacing the seats in Arrowhead and feel that they won’t be done in time for the soccer match. However, there have not been more seats sold than what Children’s Mercy Park can hold. The Chiefs said that these events typically sell more as the event gets closer but it has to make you wonder if the real problem was ticket sales.
