Danny Duffy was hit in the leg and struggled after that. He allowed four runs on four hits and two walks with just two strikeouts in 2.1 innings. Scott Barlow also struggled yet again and the Royals allowed seven runs in the final game of a series sweep by the Boston Red Sox.
Alex Gordon continued his hot start to the season. His 3-for-5 day raised his OPS to .873. Gordon hit his tenth home run the season today.
Jorge Soler went 2-for-5 with a double and his 16th home run of the season.
Cheslor Cuthbert continues his hot hitting since being called up from AAA Omaha. He hit his third home run of the season in limited time.
Nicky Lopez got a much needed multi-hit. He went 2-for-4. One of those hits was his fourth double of the season. He also stole third base.
Cam Gallagher went 2-for-3 on the day. That raised his average to just .190.
Billy Hamilton had a multi-hit day.
Danny Duffy had a day he would like to forget. He started off well but then was hit by a ball back up the middle. Duffy was in quite a bit of pain but remained in the game. However, after that injury he allowed four runs. He ended up allowing those four runs on four hits and two walks.
Brian Flynn pitched a scoreless 3.1 innings. He allowed three hits and two walks and lowered his ERA to 1.17.
Scott Barlow continues to struggle and Ned Yost can’t seem to adjust to that. Barlow allowed three runs on one hit and two walks in just 1.1 innings in this game. He did throw 66% strikes but still struggled.
Kevin McCarthy bounced back from his previous outing and pitched two scoreless innings in which he allowed just one hit.
