The Royals just couldn’t put together much offense at all and lost the suspended game from Monday 2-1. Hunter Dozier and Ryan O’Hearn each had two hits. The rest of the team combined for three hits.
The pitching was good for the Royals in this game. Homer Bailey allowed just one run on three hits and one walk in his 4.1 innings. He had to leave due to a rain delay on Monday. The only pitcher that had a bad game was Jake Diekman and he got the loss.
Adalberto Mondesi doubled down the left field line in the fourth in a heavy rain.
Hunter Dozier singled to left to score Mondesi in the fourth and give the Royals a 1-0 lead.
Ryan O’Hearn singled to left center in the third. He moved to second on. Maldonado base hit. He was then picked off when Billy Hamilton pulled his bat back on a bunt attempt at a high pitch . O’Hearn got too far off second trying to make sure he beat any throw to third but when Hamilton wisely didn’t bunt O’Hearn was a dead duck.
Martin Maldonado hit a single in the third. His hitting has improved recently. Of course, it could only get better but he has clearly been working on it.
