Major League Baseball
The Reds and Pirates got into a brawl this week. Reds’ catcher Tucker Barnhart tried to help restrain his teammate but decided that his form was not what it should have been.
Whit Merrifield took a run at Joe DiMaggio’s streak but was stopped after hitting in 31 consecutive games. He seems to think he has a longer streak in him.
Reds’ relief pitcher Trevor Rosenthal retired his first batter of the season on Wednesday. Rosenthal had allowed nine batters to reach safely to start the season before his appearance against the Phillies. His outing Wednesday improved his ERA to 72.00.
Alex Gordon hit a home run own Friday that meant a lot to him.
National Football League
We learned today that we could get an NFL triple header the Saturday before Christmas.
Patrick Mahomes visited the Ozarks recently to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield. He is not only setting records on the field, he is doing the same for fundraising.
And finally, former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Terrell Owens reportedly stopped paying for a storage unit that he was using. So, the contents were auctioned off. A Georgia business owner paid $4,000 for the contents.
